Someone is killed every 15 minutes due to alcohol. For every person who is killed many are injured. Most of these deaths and injuries could have been avoided had alcohol been taken out of the picture.

Is there any way to prevent drinking and driving? In my opinion, the only way to do this is to put a breathalyzer device in every car and make it mandatory that all drivers blow a clean result before the engine will start.

Even that is infallible. I had a student in one of my alcohol classes who had received two DUIs and had one of these devices placed on his car. He then got busted a third time. How did he pass? He had his 3-year-old daughter blow a clean reading!

Another Tragedy

According to Delaware Online, Elton Paynter never intended to be a murderer, but that is what he is. The 26-year-old was charged with vehicular homicide and DUI after his car went out of control and killed a man waiting for a bus. Two passengers in the car also were injured, one who was ejected from the car.

Paynter of Philadelphia, PA, was driving a 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass when he spun out of control and struck two trees and a 52-year-old man waiting for a.

In addition to vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol, Paynter was charged with driving with a suspended license.

One of the passengers was also arrested after he was found to be in possession of 6 grams of marijuana and a stun gun.

Drugs and alcohol are the scourge of society. Please do not use them and operate a vehicle.
