No one is immune from the wiles of drugs and alcohol. No matter your position, if you are not careful when consuming these toxic substances, you could find yourself in a heap of trouble. Just ask former Henderson, Nevada City Attorney Elizabeth Quillin has taken a plea agreement following her arrest for driving under the influence last May.

Quillin pleaded no contest to charges of driving under the influence and was ordered to pay a $585 fine, attend an alcohol awareness class and attend a victim impact panel. This was Quillin's first DUI offense.

One Dumb Decision After Another!

The attorney did not make a smart decision as she left the scene of the accident and had an open container. Somehow, the charges of leaving the scene of an accident and having an open container of alcohol in her vehicle stemming from the May 23 incident weren't included when the case was re-filed in Henderson Justice Court earlier this month.

She was arrested after she crashed her SUV in Henderson, Nevada. She failed a field-sobriety test and her blood-alcohol level was 0.28, more than three times the legal limit.

After the incident, Quillin entered an alcohol-related rehabilitation program, using vacation and sick-leave time while she was in treatment – I am sure on the City’s insurance!

Nice Severance

After resigning from the city last month, she accepted a severance package that included a $99,500 payment, compensation for her accrued vacation time and 10 months of COBRA insurance coverage.

Again, nobody is immune from the dangers of alcohol. Don’t drink and drive!
