This is the seventh in a series of blog entries exploring the problem of binge drinking on American college campuses. We examined even the possibility of making all campuses dry. We have discussed all of the negative consequences associated with binge drinking including the fact that for most students it is illegal and can get them into trouble with the law.

This blog entry will try to answer this question: why, despite the knowledge of the possible negative consequences, including trouble with the law, do college students persist in not only drinking alcohol, but binge drinking regularly?

The following blog entry will look at how alcohol use enriches social life in college and what can be done to at least curb binge drinking.
