Many first-time impaired driving cases begin with an evaluation by a substance use professional. Based on that evaluation, participants are often assigned to an education program or, in some cases, a higher level of treatment.
Level 1 vs. Level 2
Impaired Driver Intervention Classes are one of two levels:
- Level 1 is a 15-hour program.
- Level 2 is a more intensive 22.5-hour program.
The assigned level depends on the results of the initial evaluation. Level 2 is generally recommended when a more structured and in-depth intervention is needed. Participants are expected to attend all sessions, actively participate, and complete any required assignments.
Who This Class Is For
This class is commonly used for individuals who need to complete alcohol or impaired driving education for court, legal, employment, or personal reasons. It may also be helpful for individuals who were arrested in one state but live in another and need to complete required education hours.
If you are a resident of the state of Connecticut, you are generally required to take this program in person unless you have special permission from the court or supervising authority. This class is not approved for Connecticut in-state program requirements. However, if you are an out-of-state resident, then you may be able to take an online class.

Our Impaired Driver Intervention Classes are available online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The course is easy to use and includes reading materials, interactive exercises, and multimedia content. Each section is timed to ensure you complete the full number of required hours.
Topics covered may include alcohol and drug awareness, impaired driving risks, decision-making, stress management, relapse prevention, and strategies for avoiding future incidents.
