“Scarface” with Al Pacino is one of my all-time favorite movies. Of course I do not watch it anymore. If you read my blog regularly, you know why.

As a recovering drug addict and counselor for both in-class and online drug classes I try to keep myself out of bad situations. I can assure you “Scarface” is not a good thing for me to watch as the temptations are almost overwhelming.

Now comes the purpose of this blog – Pacino’s co-star. Actor Angel Salazar—the guy who played Tony Montana’s (Al Pacino) cocaine-retrieving associate Chi Chi in “Scarface” was arrested for DUI in Brooklyn, NY in May. This according to the Huffington Post.

At the time, Salazar was behind the wheel of a 1999 Volvo Sedan, which was seen swerving on the road just after midnight. Officers claimed Salazar appeared to be drunk, and the breathalyzer test proved them correct, showing a blood alcohol level of .121 (well above the .08 limit).

Salazar was arrested and taken to a nearby jail where he was booked on three counts of DUI, but still believes that despite the fact he had been drinking he was OK to drive.

Salazar also thought because one of the officers recognized him for his famous role in the 1983 film that he would get off. Kudos to the NYPD. Hopefully he will get a series of alcohol awareness classes and counseling to ensure he understands the dangers of drinking and driving.
